2020 will largely be remembered by most for all the wrong reasons, but amidst all the chaos and uncertainty that this year has brought us, at least the Albion faithful have had plenty of reasons to celebrate what’s happened on and off the pitch.

There are few fan bases that have experienced as turbulent, exciting and nerve-wracking a year as Baggies fans have. There were moments where we thought the 2019/20 season would be ruled null and void, there were more than a few moments where we thought we’d bottled promotion and there’s been moments where we wished we were back in the Championship. All in all, it’s been a uniquely crazy year.

It’s also been a crazy start to life back in the Premier League. Currently sitting 19th with only a single win from 15 games, you could be forgiven for losing all hope. Fan favourite Slaven Bilic recently, and some would argue unfairly, lost his job as West Brom manager only to be replaced by Sam Allardyce hours later.

Slaven’s time at West Brom will be best remembered for delivering us to the promised land at the first time of asking and in the most extraordinary of circumstances whilst still playing expansive, flair football. Albion may have stumbled over the line on the final day of the regular season, but promotion was absolutely deserved.

It was a great shame that fans couldn’t properly experience those joyous, celebratory scenes at The Hawthorns. Simply put, it was the finest night for a Baggies fan since the legendary Great Escape back in 2005.

The 22nd of July 2020 will go down in Albion folklore.

Ultimately though, 2020 didn’t end kindly for the Croatian. After a highly impressive run of form in the autumn of 2019, 2020 was a slightly different story. Nine league wins, twelve draws and thirteen losses, including 32 points from a possible 63 in the Championship in 2020, wasn’t good enough. This poor form continued in to the top-flight and as a result he was sacked.

Albion’s highs and lows have made it a fascinating year to be a fan. But how will we remember this unforgettable year?
