Last night’s 4-0 defeat to Arsenal meant that Albion have now lost three out of three home games under Sam Allardyce (12 goals against; no goals for).

Barring the performance at Liverpool, which in hindsight seems like a fluke, West Brom fans are yet to see what Allardyce can do for the side that Bilic couldn’t.

You could argue that Slaven was doing his best with a Championship side in the Premier League – it’s hard to see Big Sam do much better unless there is heavy investment this month.

As the snow fell over the Hawthorns, there were talks of the game being called-off. But the game was played out and the Baggies were humiliated.

The opening goal was scored by Kieran Tierney in the 23rd minute, when he pushed the ball past Darnell Furlong before cutting back inside and unleashing a powerful shot on goal, which Johnstone could do little about.

Five minutes later, Bukayo Saka doubled the Gunners’ lead as he tucked home a beautiful passing move, reminiscent of the glory days under Arsene Wenger.

Albion, meanwhile, posed little threat throughout the half, and it was clear for all to see that this was Arsenal’s game for the taking.

Charlie Austin was brought on for Grady Diangana at half-time, with Big Sam eager to keep the scoreline down.

But his efforts were ultimately in vain, as Alexandre Lacazette’s quickfire double in the 60th and 64th minute put the Gunners 4-0 up and beyond Albion’s reach.

The game wound down slowly for West Brom fans, as they could only watch their team’s defence get weaved in and out of by Arsenal’s youngsters as if they weren’t there.

It was an embarrassing display, illustrating just how much work Allardyce has ahead of him if he wants to keep the Baggies up this season.
