Albion’s first-choice right-back was always going to be fairly high on this list, but perhaps 12th place isn’t as high as some might have expected, given how important he is to the side nowadays. Having said that, competition for his spot is minimal, with only Dara O’Shea likely to replace him (a player who is preferred at centre-back).

#11 Matt Phillips – £20,000 p/w (£1,040,000 per year)

Phillips has been an important player for Albion since joining back in the summer of 2016 and has been used frequently by all managers. He was rivalled by Matheus Pereira for his spot out on the right flank and consequently had a spell on the bench, but he seems to be back in favour under Allardyce now.

#10 Kyle Edwards – £20,350 p/w (£1,058,200 per year)

Kyle Edwards has been regarded as a hot prospect by Albion for a number of years now but is still yet to make much of an impact in the first team. It’s fair to say that he’s on the brink, but many will likely be surprised at how highly he ranks on this list, given how little he contributes to the side overall.

#9 Grady Diangana – £20,350 p/w (£1,058,200 per year)

Diangana signed from West Ham in the summer for a club record transfer fee, but whilst his cost might have been high, his wages — relatively speaking — are not. One explanation for his 9th place finish on this list could be that his contract is filled with performance-related bonuses, which, if he does well, would quickly boost his pay packet each week.
