Sawyers, like Harper, is a product of Albion’s academy, but was a late bloomer, being forced out of the club early on in his career, only to be brought back in the summer of 2019 following a bright spell with Brentford. His performances in the Championship last season alongside Jake Livermore were outstanding, and the pair were credited by the fans as being integral to the side’s push for promotion. However, his start to life in the Premier League hasn’t been as great, but there is still time for him to find his feet.

For a player who has only played a total of three minutes of league football for the Baggies this season, Peltier’s annual wage of £702,000 exemplifies how footballers really do ‘steal a living’ sometimes.

Bartley has featured in eight games for the Baggies so far this season, scoring a goal in the process. A threat from set-pieces, the 29-year-old has been a useful addition to the squad and enjoyed plenty of playing time last season under Slaven Bilic. It remains to be seen whether he’ll be used as much by Allardyce.

Like Bartley, Semi Ajayi is a rock at the back for the Albion, and rose to prominence throughout the Championship campaign last season. He has since solidified his place in the centre-back role and is likely to be used frequently by Allardyce as a result of his versatility.
