#2 Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City)
Embed from Getty ImagesKelechi Iheanacho is a 23-year-old striker who currently plays for Leicester City in the Premier League. He was developed in Manchester City’s youth academy after joining the Cityzens in the 2014/15 season, and would be promoted to the senior team by the end of it.
Iheanacho is also a Nigeria international, having featured 23 times for his country, scoring seven goals. It was his early performances for Nigeria in the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup that led to interest from European clubs like Man City, who beat Arsenal, Sporting Lisbon and Porto for his signature.
Leicester City signed Iheanacho from City in the summer of 2017 for around £25m but he’s had a difficult time cementing himself in the first team, with the likes of Jamie Vardy, who won the Golden Boot this season, consistently picked ahead of him.
This has meant that the majority of his appearances for the Foxes has been off the bench, which explains his rather low tally of 20 goals in 89 games.
He has improved this season, however, managing to net five times and provide four assists in 20 matches, despite only being selected for the starting eleven in 32% of those games.
West Brom are set to battle Newcastle and Aston Villa for Kelechi Iheanacho this summer, with the Baggies desperate for a Premier League goalscorer who can hopefully keep them away from the relegation zone.
Iheanacho would be a superb addition to Bilic’s squad, but it’s just a case of being able to afford him: Leicester would likely want in the region of £20m for the forward.
