West Bromwich Albion have already been linked to a number of players this summer but how many of them do you recognise?

Some will be household names; others will be up-and-coming hot prospects from overseas that have been well-scouted by the club, but fans will likely not know much about them at all.

In this article we’ll list three players that Albion are understood to be interested in and give you a concise background on each one: what they can bring to the team, how much they might cost, and how well they’ve performed for their current clubs as of late.

#1 Mohamed Simakan (RC Strasbourg)

Mohamed Simakan is a 20-year-old defender who currently plays for RC Strasbourg in the Ligue 1. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions (including five in the Europa League qualifiers) and although typically used as a centre-back, he can also be deployed with much success as a right-back.

Simakan signed his first professional contract with the club back in May 2018, when he had only recently turned 18 years old; he then went on to make his debut two months later in a 3-1 Europa League win over Maccabi Haifa.

Despite his youth, many suspect that Simakan is ready for the next step up, hence the interest from sides like Monaco, AC Milan and, indeed, West Brom.

His natural strength and physicality will help him to comfortably adjust to the Premier League, if he does join the Baggies this summer, and he would likely be utilised immediately as the starting right-back ahead of Darnell Furlong.

A stand-out performer in the Strasbourg team this season, Mohamed Simakan is undoubtedly destined for big things in the world of football and if the Baggies can get their hands on him, it would be one almighty coup.

Simakan is expected to cost around £14m, which might be an eye-watering figure to some fans at first, but with the influx of cash from promotion to the Premier League, Albion could realistically afford to bring him in this summer.
