#3 Eberechi Eze (QPR)
Embed from Getty ImagesEberechi Eze is a 22-year-old attacking midfielder who currently plays for Queens Park Rangers in the Championship. He has been QPR’s standout performer all season, featuring in 46 matches, scoring 14 goals and providing eight assists in the process.
It was the Guardian who broke the news about West Brom’s interest in Eberechi Eze, and they also reported that the midfielder would cost the buying club in the region of £20m.
However, Roshane Thomas challenged that on the ‘U Irons’ podcast, hosted by The Athletic:
We are led to believe that the £20m valuation of Eze is a tad unrealistic, it’s more £12m to £15m.
This is a far more affordable price for the clubs interested — including Albion — and could see a deal being wrapped up rather early on in this transfer window.
Eberechi Eze would bring a whole new level of flair and charisma to the middle of the park if he joined the Baggies, and would undoubtedly be a joy to watch alongside Matheus Pereira — the two most eye-catching players in the Championship this season.
What helps is the fact that Eze can burst forward and score a goal for himself occasionally, and doesn’t have to pass it off to another player when in front of goal, as he fortunately possesses a lethal shot that can fizz past a keeper with ease.
It would be a real statement of intent from West Brom if they signed Eze this summer, but it remains to be seen just how much is available to spend, so fans can only hope at this stage.
