Wigan left-back Antonee Robinson is reconsidering his proposed switch to Sheffield United as first-team football may not be guaranteed; consequently, Fulham have made a late bid, offering Robinson the game time he’s after, according to The Sun.

Robinson’s change of heart provides West Brom with some hope in their pursuit of the 23-year-old but they must act fast before he makes up his mind and moves elsewhere.

Robinson was relegated with Wigan last season after the club were docked 12 points.

The drop to League One activated a release clause in his contract, making him available to other clubs for just £1.5m.

Naturally a vast array of clubs have circled the Latics in recent weeks, eager to capitalise on their misfortune and raid their squad for potential bargains — Robinson being one of them.

The Baggies have been closely linked to the American left-back so far this summer, and were believed to be ahead of the competition before Sheffield United made an official bid.

But with the full-back keen on first-team football, Sheffield United may not be the ideal next destination and he knows it.

Alan Nixon, journalist for The Sun, believes that the Albion could be in with a chance to sign Robinson this summer, believing that the Baggies have “a fair argument” at being the full-back’s best chance at first-team football.

Robinson would undoubtedly be a superb signing if the Albion board can pull it off, as he would be a great replacement for the transfer-listed Kieran Gibbs and at a price of just £1.5m, there is virtually no risk involved.
