Representatives for West Bromwich Albion have held talks with Besiktas over Domagoj Vida, with a figure of €5m now being discussed, according to Turkish media outlet Spor Arena.

The Baggies have asked that Besiktas make a decision on the price they are willing to sell Vida for by Tuesday.

Vida, a central-defender who can also be deployed as a right-back, was put on the transfer list by Besiktas in order to raise funds for paying off their debt, most of which was caused by the pandemic.

Albion know that the Black Eagle are in a position where they must sell, so the board are trying to negotiate as low a transfer fee as possible.

Besiktas coach Sergen Yalçın is understood to have given the sale of Domagoj Vida the green light, as he fully understands that the club will struggle to pay his wages whilst they face their current financial turmoil.

West Brom and Besiktas will meet again — likely by Tuesday, as mentioned above — to finalise any initial discussions.
