In Bilić’s first summer transfer window a year ago, West Brom signed nine players including two signings from Premier League sides, three from the Championship and perhaps most surprisingly, three relatively unknown Portuguese Primeira Liga players — Chris Willock and Filip Krovinović from Benfica and Matheus Pereira from Sporting Lisbon.
Few would’ve suspected Albion’s desire to secure talent from the Portuguese top division but after this successful recruitment strategy it now appears that the Turkish Süper Lig may be the subject of a similar raid by the Baggies over the coming months.
The Turkish Süper Lig is a division that has been impacted greatly by the COVID-19 pandemic and as a result bigger clubs such as Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are having to shift their most costly and often most talented stars in order to balance their books.
These fire sales represent a fantastic opportunity for Bilić to strengthen his squad with quality players, many of whom possess experience in continental club competitions as well as the international stage.
West Brom also have an edge in the market as Bilić has contacts within Turkish football after a two-year stint at Beşiktaş where he finished 3rd in both the 2013/14 and 2014/15 season.
There has been no shortage of Süper Lig players linked with a move to B71 since West Brom’s promotion a couple of weeks ago. Vedat Muriqi, the in-demand Kosovan target man has been continually linked to the club and the rumours surrounding Domagoj Vida’s potential transfer is gaining traction.
Both Muriqi’s and Vida’s potential transfers have been profiled by WBA Report already, so you won’t find their names on this list, but there are plenty of talented players who could make their way to The Hawthorns this summer.
Here are four other Turkish Süper Lig players that could be wearing a West Brom jersey come the end of the transfer window on the 5th October…
