Having sealed promotion to the Premier League Albion must look at bolstering their squad if they wish to survive the season. One name that has been floating around is the striker Vedat Muriqi.

The 26-year-old Kosovan international is currently applying his trade with Turkish side Fenerbahce. An all action, left-footed forward, he’s scored 15 goals and picked up six assists in 32 league appearances for the side that sits seventh.

He is also a talisman for the Kosovan national team, for whom he managed to slot away a penalty against England in the Euro 2020 Qualifiers.

Standing at 1.94m (6 ft 3), the towering forward is known for his aerial prowess and his stature is certainly one that will be able to cope with the physical demands of English football.

However, despite being what would seem to be an out-and-out target man, he is also adept at picking up positions elsewhere on the pitch. This is something that is vital should he fit into Bilic’s team which is so fluid in attack.

Much of Muriqi’s goals this season have come in and around the box, and often off the last man. With a good work ethic and the desire to poach goals he would no doubt feed off the chances created by Matheus Pereira.

He is a player similar to that of Graziano Pelle; technically astute, whilst also having strong physical attributes.

Albion will not expect to dominate the ball as much as they have done in the Championship. For this reason, it becomes evermore important to have a striker who can be their ‘out-ball’ as such; someone willing to chase a ball down and hold it up until support arrives. Muriqi would certainly fit the bill in this sense.

Should the deal go through he would also provide a more youthful look to Bilic’s striking options.

At 26 years of age, but with plenty of experience in top flight football, he would bolster Bilic’s forward options.

With Slaven’s strong contacts in Turkish football, and the pull factor of Albion now being a Premier League club, he will be hopeful that a deal can be reached which suits both parties.
